Fashionable for the Fall by DP

What’s good hismind readers…

It’s dp from Fashon with a Side of Life, guest spottin’ to give you my top 5 fashion tips for fellas this fall.

Although the metrosexual trend has all but taken over fashion, fear not ! It’s all about personal style, whether that resembles Diddy or the late ODB. There are a lot of trends and items out there for us fellas this fall and I’m going to narrow it down to the essentials. These are items that are a must have in order to keep it fly this fall !

1.Cropped Trench or Peacoat – Ok fellas, don’t fight me, but cropped jackets are not just for the ladies. Cropped simply means that the jacket stops at the waist instead of the knees like most jackets. The materials to look out for are tweeds, wool and even a good cotton one if you want to keep it basic. Colors that you should go for are gray, blue, any shade of brown and the basic black. It’s always good if the jackets have a bit of military detailing too.

2.Timberlands – A black man requisite, it’s no different this fall. Timbs are a must for the cold weather that is sure to greet many of us very soon. One thing I’ll say is to keep up with maintenance in regards to your boots. Clean them after you’ve worn them out in the snow and be sure to get a new pair if your pair from last year look like they washed up on the beach. The regular butter timbs seem to be a favorite but personally, I think the hiking boots are a little more stylish and a lot more hardwearing. With casual boots, avoid crazy color schemes or super trendy looks. I’ve seen them in white and with all sorts of prints on them, leave those alone fellas ! Stylish guys, whether thugged out or dapper dan shouldn’t be wearing outrageous boots.

3.Dress Boots – Since it is cold outside, proper work shoes are also a must. Every man should invest in a pair of leather dress boots. These are good for the fall weather because they slip on without a hitch and you can keep it moving. I believe they also add polish to work attire. There are many styles they come in, I’d suggest a simple round or pointed toe, depending on preference and black or rich brown for colors. Again, many patterns and crazy colors exist..avoid them at all costs. No reason to look clownish instead of stylish at the workplace.

4.Dark Denim – Dark Denim has been a hot fashion trend for sometime now and it should be given much play as the weather gets cold. Darker denim works well with browns, dark blues, reds and other colors associated with fall dressing. Your lighter denims should be kept for spring/summer unless you are wearing a lighter color on top, ie..Ivory, Tan, Pink, etc…Good brands to invest in are True Religion, 7 for all Mankind and Salt. If you can find a basic dark denim at Old Navy, Target and the like I definitely encourage you to cop it. If it’s a carpenter jean…avoid it…if it’s got a lot of business going on on the pocket…avoid it and lastly, if you’re whole ass is hanging out…get the right size dumb ass and stop looking stupid !

5.Long Sleeve Tees – While a very basic item, long sleeved tees are essential for cold weather flyness. You can layer them with pretty much anything and that’s the whole point. The weather can be cold outside but in the office it’ll be sizzlin’ hot steamin or at somebody’s house, they’ve got there heat on the 7th level of hell…so you want to be able to remove layers as needed and still maintain the integrity of your outfit. Get these in as many colors as you prefer and make sure that they fit close to the body, so you don’t look bulkier than necessary when layering.

These are my top 5 basic fashion tips for the fall. With these in consideration, you should be able to add to and maybe even subtract from your current closet to keep the style game at Grade A Level. You can check me out @ Fashon with a Side of Life or email me at fashioncitizen@gmail.com.

Peace out fellas !
